Training Specification and Design Services

All successful training is based on determining what needs to be taught to whom in what manner.

Our associates, JAR Documentation and Training Pty Ltd and Technical Horizons Pty Ltd are specialists in specifying the type of training required and designing the courses to be delivered. These packages are prepared in such a way that you can easily re-visit them and amend them in accordance with changes in the day to day business needs — such as adding/extending the material for closely related topics.

JAR Documentation and Training and Technical Horizons can both arrange the training course, manage/co-ordinate your training resources and/or deliver the training to your staff.

Specification and Design Delivery Model

The delivery model for preparing a training specification and design package follows our standard Document Production procedure — because our deliverable to you is a training specification / training design document. Figure 1 illustrates the development model.

Trainee Needs Analysis (TNA) provides the initial scope of the training. It focuses on topics such as:
  •   What are the real training requirements?
  •   Duty and Task inventory
  •   Preliminary Training Objectives
  •   What are the implications of the training in terms of closely related areas/functions?

This document requires client acceptance before preparing a Course Specification (or Syllabus).

The Course Specification (Syllabus) addresses a number of topics (a mere list of training topics, in isolation, is probably the least useful planning tool):
  •   Specifies the Training Objectives
  •   Specifies the Enabling Objectives
  •   Specifies the overall structure of the training
  •   Provides a draft list of training topics
  •   Sets the Test Specification.

This document requires client acceptance before progressing to the Module Specifications (the training equivalent of the Detailed Design phase) and Develop Training (the main implementation activity).

In addition to the above two documents, two versions of the Project Plan will be delivered, one with each of the documents.
